I really wanted to show you this gorgeous yarn today and I am kicking myself for having bought such a duff camera. The colour reproductuion with this one is awful — and I still cannot read a card from the Canon.
Anyway, you will simply have to take my word for it that this yarn, named Tangerine, is in actual fact a wonderful blend of shades from burnt orange, through to a deep rose pink.
It is Trail Socks by Fleece Artist – 115g and 350m/382yds, machine-washable 80% Merino 20% Nylon $17.95 including delivery to the UK from Colorsong. This is the 14th (and final) skein to enable knitting all the socks in Silk Road Socks. I ordered it on the 27th of January and it took just 14 days to get here.
I am thrilled with this skein. It is a really gorgeous dye-job.
It proved very difficult to purchase yarns of the correct weight in the UK — I had not realised when I bought the book that it relied heavily on the thicker yarns that seem so popular in the States.
It is becoming evident, as I knit Gördes, that using my normal sock yarns is not really an option (most of my stash yarns are 420m to 100g.) Gördes is definitely a very tight fit… in fact it is not a fit at all! At least the Trail Socks yarn will provide a fitting sock.
I plan to pet this yarn for a while, before deciding which pattern would make the best partner to it. It is nowhere near as nice as Toddy, my favourite sock yarn – but it is a markedly cheaper purchasing option and I would certainly buy more. One day in the distant future though — I have sock plans sorted for the next 14 months.
However… I do need more of these thicker sock yarns and I am tempted to buy a couple of bargains… and if I do, you’ll be the first to hear of it in a future Tellit Tuesday post, I promise.
