A couple of FOs

Three finished objects in one post!

“It seems like forever since I began the Baby Surprise Jacket. I had just heard that a friend and former colleague and his wife were to have a baby. Baby was due December 16th, but I couldn’t resist casting on immediately. I got most of the jacket done in a day, knitted a bit more the day after… then it languished – for reasons I am now uncertain about.

The project took a kick in the pants when N e-mailed me this week …”

Private Comfort

Earl Grey socks in Toddy yarn. Basically a lovely semi-plain bloke pattern…

These are really splendid socks. The recipient loves them, and so do I.

Mr Plumbum’s Desk Mitts

I finally mustered sufficient backbone to sew in the ends on these mitts. They were finished this evening and have already been deployed. Appropriate appreciation was shown.

Water Socks

Opal socks FO.

I managed to get a few unwanted lines in these. They’ll probably ease out when I wash them. Pretty socks. For me.

René

“Knitting this yarn put me in another time and place, but one that I can’t quite identify. The colour of the yarn is subtle, almost dusky in a way. The gloss is reminiscent of … what… Rayon? It’s almost indefinable, but there is a whiff of Granny’s dressing table about it. Something in my experience, long ago. A memory so distant that I can’t reach out far enough to grab it. Something 1930’s or 1940’s about it. Something that was old, even when I was very young.”

A simple lace scarf…Named for René Lalique… Cast on: Dec 26, 2008… Cast off: 1st January 2009. 2009’s first FO!

SO-called FO

That’s one off the checklist of UFOs for dealing with. I love the textures in this. I have one ball left over and have listed at at Demiurge as available for swaps.
