My first circular shawl. This was intended to be a practice run, in preparation for a blanket-sized version later.

This pattern is very simple to knit and suitable for the relatively novice lace knitter. The beauty of the piece arises from its geometry and simplicity.

Knitted without lifelines. Some tinking involved: once at 320 stitches and once at 640 stitches. Both times in setting the pattern after the increase row, when I lost rhythm. Once the pattern is established, it is easily “read” and errors can be corrected swiftly. I tried stitch markers at 640 stitches, with 40 repeats to mark. They lasted one row before I took them out again!

Max repeats in the pattern as written is 80.

Most of the shawl was knitted between the 12th and 23rd of April, with a few days’ rest in the middle. Edging took two days…

Petunias always make me think of Dinghies

It has been a busy day, not much time for anything. We walked the dog this morning but I took no photographs until I decided to take a few potshots in the village on our way back.

Home from Melle, we set about cleaning the van in preparation for going out again. At the moment we are hoping to go out for at least one night every week in continuing efforts to break the cats in (or down!) Mr Snail was cleaning the bathroom. Although we haven’t used the shower we had… Continue reading Van Nessa : Her Leak

Deeply disappointed by our early return from the Dordogne and buoyed up by slightly cooler weather we effected our plan to go out “little and often” in an attempt to train the cats for living in the new van. Wish I’d had this when I knitted my Girasole just before Christmas 2009. I’m sure I’ll knit again & use your tracker for NaKnitMo. Thanks!

What a wonderful tracker to stumble upon, since I plan to knit this shawl soon!

(You know, I learn more excel stuff from these things–it’s amazing.)

    Thank you!

Thanks very much for the Girasole Tracker! I’ll need it – I’ll be starting the blanket version mid-May this year. I’m also linking to this post on my blog, so others can find (and use) it.

You are very welcome. Do pop back with a photograph of your finished Girasole. We shall love to see it.

The best photo is up on my blog, here. I really don’t think I could’ve finished Girasole on schedule without your wonderful tracker!
