It is time to gloss over the false start of May 17th.
Moving on:
Here I am again, with yet another fresh start. I hope that this one sticks.
Welcome to the Windmills of my Mind.
It is going to take me a while to set everything up to reflect current interests. I spent most of this afternoon in spam-marking and deleting all but 2,000 Contact Form submissions. I already weary and am not inclined to busy myself in following up on Site Health reports. Perhaps a little run-through of my Categories and Tagging structure later on…
There is a huge learning curve to climb. More than one, in fact – WordPress has change very much since I last used it with any fluency, I have the new Windoze 11 laptop to familiarise myself with, and must also get back up to speed with Creative Cloud and Lightroom in particular. It’s more than simply daunting. I also have to review around 50,000 images before attempting to transfer them from the old laptop to the new.
In short, do not expect things to be running smoothly for some considerable time to come.
Do expect to see more content here, as I desert FB for the sake of mental health, general sanity, and quality of Life.
There will be posting to one of my IG profiles for a while, but I hope to abandon Meta completely before too long. Everything is to go here, or at Two Snails, or Polarsteps. And that is something else that needs to be figured out – how to manage Two Snails and Polarsteps to best effect, deciding what goes where and not repeating myself. It’s going to be a whole lot easier if not posting to FB as well.
On a more positive note, we have been making some changes and additions to our IT kit that I hope very much will promote its use when we are on the road. I have found the old laptop too large and clumsy for use in the van, and do not enjoy writing on mobile devices, and this mostly explains falling by the wayside – though there has been a large element of lack of time, opportunity, and mental energy too.
The new laptop is a delight to use and fits far better on the table in the van without pushing Steve out of the available space. Additionally, there is a folding keyboard on its way to me that should ease the writing process on phone and tablet. Much time and mental energy will be liberated once the Meta habit is broken.
I am hopeful.
