365:37 Sub-normal

“Normal” Human body temperature is accepted as 37 degrees Celsius. I have always been something of a cool customer. Papa Wheel

Life on the 59th Parallel and I put together our new Country Spinner wheel today. I took plenty of photographs and will write up the process on our website some time soon. When we had finished we decided that we needed a comparison shot of our teaching and hire machines. So, here they are, our …

365:36 Allsorts

On this day in 1953 the sweet rationing was abandoned – just in time for my infancy. Mother always said we did well for sweets when we were little – people were so delighted to be able to buy them again that cute little nippers did well for sugary gifts. Incidentally, I was born in …

Blue Day

I got a coat of woodwash onto my new spinning chair. Hurrah. My 365 blip today, at nybblets, is my film camera. I’m adding to the stable and have an EOS 6D arriving soon. Not soon enough. I want to play!

365:35

Oh, c’mon, you surely never expected anything else today? My second 35mm SLR (the first was a Zenit E, long gone now). I have film. I have battery. I intend to deploy, soon. As a matter of interest – I have a new DSLR on its way to me – an EOS 6D. Can’t wait!

The Bin Run

The year is moving on and it is now already light when I put the bin bags out on a Monday morning. It was extremely windy this morning but dry at last. The light was beautiful – a soft pearly pink.

Day 34/365. 34 is a Fibonacci number. I’m not sure where all our rabbits have disappeared to, perhaps the rain has washed them away. Anyway, no rabbits, so I turned to sunflower seeds. Of course I have no sunflowers growing and cannot photograph a lovely full-blown head with its spirally-arranged seeds. So I arranged some …

Danish, not pastry

Our new spinning wheel arrived yesterday. I have been coating the parts with Danish Oil before we build the wheel later this week. Can’t wait to get to grips with it – it’s a Country Spinner 2 from Ashford and the bobbins are whoppers – they take a whole kilo of yarn! The wheel will …

365:33

Day 33 was always going to be about the long players but I have some dififuclty with that. My work bench doubles as my studio under normal conditions but today it is covered with umpteen pieces of spinning wheel, which have just been coated in Danish Oil and left to dry. It would be nice …

and so it goes on…

We are having another “fresh” day today. This was taken a good hour after high tide. 90 minutes after high tide the sea is still making its way into our garden. The road cannot be seen for seaweed deposits. The weather is at least cutting us some slack today and we have seen the sun. …
