To paraphrase the exercise for Pause 2, it was to take an object in your environment, examine it carefully, take shots from various angles.

I have had two goes so far. There are so many images that I will make separate posts. This one is a “Solvinden” Ikea table lamp that really shows highlights and has a lovely shape.

It’s too hot today to play outside and, as you can imagine, living in a static van does not lend itself well to pleasant and clutter-free backgrounds. I have struggled.

The curtains are closed against the fierce sun, which means that light is lacking. I tried a few shots with the curtains open, just to see what happened with more available light, but they were swiftly closed again!

This exercise was about observing form, highlights, shade and shadow Once again, not with a focus on photographic excellence, this course is about Mindfulness and using the process of image-creation to focus the mind in the present moment.

Keeping that in mind caused me to experiment a little with camera settings. Different exposure modes together with spot metering really showed up light and shade to better effect, and shooting in mono was an obvious move.

lick on any thumbnail for a larger view.

Okay, I think I can tick that box, I was overwhelmingly focused on this object for far too long. And then… trying to drive Lightroom after so long away!

There is a new exercise out tomorrow but I hope to revisit this one in low light, with the lamp turned on, first.

Which one do I prefer? Not sure yet, but it will be shared on IG with the Andana tags. Once I can stop wavering, and wailing “but none of them are good!”

Which one do you like? Let’s number them Top to Bottom down each column, working L-R a column at a time (1-3, 4-8, 9-10) Oh, and do you see a nice, neat, tiled gallery? I don’t. My tiles are not neat at all!
