Drip, drip, drop

My voice returned to me by lunch time yesterday and I was very well pleased about that. Overall I didn’t  feel too bad though felt it wisest to stay in. I decided to grasp the nettle that is my Get Pushed challenge for this week. Marelize Dry had challenged me to capture water crowns or drops in any way that I choose.

Setting up the bench for flash photography is out of the question at the moment and, as I have attempted crowns and droplets before…

I was idly pondering how to go about improving on previous efforts and doing some reading on the matter when I came across a YouTube video about capturing “Psychedelic” images of water droplets on CDs.

You know me, I had to give it a go…

DVD3 Challenged 2015-104 DVD1 DVD2

I was quite pleased with my results but thought I might improve on them today and do better with a different lens. I set up earlier in readiness for lower light levels. That was when I discovered the awful reality… I no longer have a close-focusing Macro lens. I have lenses with Macro capability but they do not focus closer than 35 cm.

I looked for second hand bargains on eBay today and found none.

Earlier today I went out after a shower to see if I could capture droplets in another format. The daffs by the conservatory door were well moistened…

Something Different 2015-105I was not hugely successful – it was too breezy to get a good sharp shot. Ever one to make the best of it, I edited the life out of one of my shots and prepared it for a 365Project competition “Edit the stuffing out of it”. That was fun and I actually like the result very much.

I also like this one that I took at the same time, though the droplets are absent

Whilst I was out I heard my first snipe of the season. Spring really is here at last.

As well as hankering after better Macro capability I am being reminded at every turn that I should like another tripod, with a boom fitted, to better enable horizontal placement of the camera above the table. I also want need some ND filters so I can take long exposure shots of the sea. I have a BIRTHDAY coming up and wonder if it would be worth some muttering…

Also forthcoming: MUMS Puzzle Hunt (4th May) and Eskimimi’s Knit Crochet Blog Week (11th May). Luckily KCBW follows MUMS and does not coincide this year, which I think it may have done last year.  I am hoping Eskimimi publishes the topics soon though as it would be helpful to have my posts well in hand before puzzling begins.

(Engaging Mutter Mode) And then it is my BIRTHDAY. (Mr L are you reading this?)

  • Neutral Density  Filters
  • Close focusing Macro Lens
  • Boom fitting for tripod

Any or all would be wonderful. Second Hand is fine and is expected.

Just saying.

(Mutter Mode Off)

Hoped-for packages did not arrive today. We still await the tile cutter and my Rocket Blower has seemingly got stuck somewhere.

The light levels are dropping off now. It’s time for me to play with my DVD again.

It’s a reasonable day today and thus we have the back doors standing open. This means that Chloé can come and go as she pleases (she refuses to use the cat flaps and expects us to give her ingress and egress via the sitting room window). We were taking a coffee break in between sorting out the van, when we heard a strange Chloé-type noise. I did not like it. I wondered if she hadContinue readingThanks!

Petunias always make me think of Dinghies

It has been a busy day, not much time for anything. We walked the dog this morning but I took no photographs until I decided to take a few potshots in the village on our way back.

Seems to me that making plans is a complete waste of time! Once again the weather gods have a different set of plans to our own but hey, ho, we are happy to go where the wind blows… or the tide drifts, or whatever. More like where the wind doesn’t blow, though. The weather gods… Continue reading Aft agley

Tonight’s view from the van is of olive groves and cloud. We have decided to spend only one night here and will move on to Olvera tomorrow. Dusty came for a walk with us this afternoon, there is a track that runs straight from the campsite into the National Park. Very nice and he walked well, until the rain started and he asked to go back into his carrier! #wp #spain #cats #Dusty
