More boring stuff

The reading continues. Much of it is interesting and exciting but a quantity is to say the least depressing, a little even frightening.

We have discussed our expectations and goals. Mr L calculates that he needs 6 months on the 5:2 routine to reach his goals. I actually have to do twice as much work as he does, so expect to be hard at work for over a year. That sounds awful, but it took twenty years to pile this lot on and I cannot expect it to vanish overnight.

However, a year is a long time and I think I need some shorter term goals. The most important goal has to be to get my BMI out of the obese end of the spectrum and back into simply overweight. I am allowing six months for this. It will be good if I can do it sooner but I don’t want to set myself up for a fail and I also wish to keep in mind that it’s not a good thing to lose too much too quickly. I’m going to be a tortoise, not a hare.

Six months is not very short term though and I think I need to consider something at 4 weeks, and 3 months so that I can have some big ticks to smile about. 5:2 is supposed to offer an average 1 pound a week loss – how about I set my 4 week goal at a simple 2 kilos, or 4.4 lbs. If I am to meet my 10Kg in 6 months, then at 3 months I shall be needing to tick off 5 Kilos or 11 lbs. I’m hoping at that point to cross off a dress size too.

I reckon that it is perfectly doable, especially if I can keep the exercise up.

OK – it’s your job to keep me to it. Don’t let me slip. If I fail to report back regularly, put me on the spot and ask how I am doing.

The feasting time of year is going to be interesting – Christmas is simple to ignore but Mr L’s birthday on the 17th Dec and our wedding anniversary on the 31st usually attract us to the champagne, fillet steaks and double cream.

Now, if you will excuse, I plan to investigate the wardrobe in order to find a favourite garment that I should like to fit into again. I will hang it on the front of the wardrobe door as a constant reminder and inspiration. There may even be a photograph – once I can slip into it easily once more.
