Tuesday is just a state of mind

Show and Tell!

The skein of yarn that I won from pmcblonde‘s blog, by naming her new shawl pattern “Mizzle”, arrived. The pattern itself was also included. Mr L has claimed the yarn for socks for himself, but I think he’s willing to forgo the shawl…

The entirety of my sock yarn stash (not counting projects in progress), for which I promised to have assigned patterns by Tuesday gone. Sigh.

The stash, as I see it, splits down into two main groups.

There are the yarns that will be made into plain socks, using the trusty “Simple Socks” pattern that I used for my very first pair. There are two colours of Regia Cotton Galaxy – these are definitely for me – and a ball of Regia Sinfonie Color in a wonderful mainly purple and black colour combination (also for me). The two balls of Regia Design Line are for Mr L and, as already noted, so is the new Knitting Goddess.

I shall be casting a pair on soon and have them to hand for those odd knitting moments and for ferry journeys.

Then there are the yarns that merit some extra attention and require a perfect pattern choice. Numbers 1 and 3 are probably for Mr L and 3 is most likely to be another pair of Earl Greys (unless I seize it for myself and make some Rimefrost with it). I know that 5 will be a pair of Ellingtons for me and 6 is destined for another Cookie A pattern, Marlene. 2 is also begging for something intricate, as it gives a very good stitch definition — Nebula, I reckon. Yarn #4 is going to be a pair of Mad Color [sic] Weaves. So, what to do with that Hand Art (#1)? A slip stitch pattern such as Rhythm Man, I think.

Which leaves one final skein of sock yarn looking for a destination pattern. I confess myself stumped. It’s a skein of Toddy and is pinkish and orangey — think Tequila Sunrise. Altogether more subtle than my photograph makes it look, it is a very beautiful yarn.

Can you suggest to me the perfect sock pattern choice? I want a very special one, to do this yarn full justice.

I confess that there is a voice inside me that is nagging about this skein. “Not socks” it is saying, “make a shawl of me…” but again, which shawl? I have no idea.

Petunias always make me think of Dinghies

It has been a busy day, not much time for anything. We walked the dog this morning but I took no photographs until I decided to take a few potshots in the village on our way back.

Home from Melle, we set about cleaning the van in preparation for going out again. At the moment we are hoping to go out for at least one night every week in continuing efforts to break the cats in (or down!) Mr Snail was cleaning the bathroom. Although we haven’t used the shower we had… Continue reading Van Nessa : Her Leak
