Basically, a lovely semi-plain bloke pattern, with just a few errors in it. There is nothing that a slightly experienced sock-knitter can’t cope with though. An experienced sock-knitter will likely sail through, doing what they expect to, and never notice a problem.

The Toddy yarn is fabulous – really soft.  Beautiful to knit with. The colour is sumptuous, but reserved and suitably bloke-ish. There will be more socks in Toddy, one day. (For my review of this yarn, see this post.)

Knitting with the square needles was “interesting” and somewhat like the Curate’s Egg (good in parts.) I will review the needles asap but am giving Kollage a fair crack by waiting for replacement needles to arrive. As soon as they come, I’ll cast on  for more socks and then a review will follow shortly after.

These are really splendid socks. The recipient loves them, and so do I.

  1. I have square needles too, a gift from a friend. I’ll be using them for my next socks I think.
But mine are square dpns… square CIRCULARS seems a bit of an oxymoron somehow!

    1. They certainly do seem an oxymoron.

I have reached the conclusion that the square circs are just no use for magic loop socks and I would certainly not let them loose on my Machair or my Aurora! The construction is just a simple “pinch” of the square tube onto the flexible cord and a slightly rough edge is the result. The cord is fab and the points themselves are nice to handle. They just don’t add up to a good solution for my needs. I think the DPNs will be great, though.
