August Break 2025, Day 14: Scent

Having purchased Crème Crue, we needed fruit. We Plum-ped for these Mirabelles. Mirabelles The scent of the rip fruit is gorgeous. They also look pretty, don’t they?

August Break 2025, Day 13: Trio

A trio of sausages. Not triplets – each sausage is a different flavour: Herb, Tomato, Smoked. For the curious: Aligot on the bottom, topped by a Roscoff Onion that I painstakingly caramelised with thyme. Those black plates are bringing out my inner chef, I think.

August Break 2025 Day 9: On the Horizon

We are a bit stuck for horizon here…

August Break 2025 Day 8: Circles

Having missed out on the lovely garden wall circles in Préfailles I was feeling stumped on this prompt too but it was amazing, once I had looked at a few recent images, just how many circles I had captured unwittingly.

Today’s walk was quite kind to me too, so I was able to “capture on the day.”

More in the blog.

August Break 2025 Day 7: Miniature

I keep Babybels in the fridge at all times because we are following a low-carbohydrate regime. These small portions of cheese are a really good low-carb energy boost to keep me going until dinner time. I think these count as miniatures?

And, to complete my mini-break, some mini tomatoes go perfectly with the cheese.

August Break Day 5: Bookshelf

Not an easy prompt for me this one. I mean both that it isn’t easy for me to come up with a shot, but also that the idea of the prompt is distressing to me.

My reading these days is overwhelmingly via Kindle. I have one book open in my actual Kindle, another in the app on the phone, a third via the app on my tablet. I haven’t yet got around to setting up Kindle Reader on the new Windoze laptop… but I will.

Obviously this prompt required me to walk out into Rouans to find their book exchange. I did. I couldn’t find one! Can it really be one of the few French towns with no book swap!
