Monday Outlook

Week 1 is here – that there calendar on the right seems more than a bit iffy, anybody else noticed that? Much calmer than of late when I took the rubbish out today, though what wind there is, is biting cold. The tide was pretty much in and the sea dead calm.  The temperature has finally …

Wound Up

After some time spent pondering the logistics, and then implementing a Heath Robinson affair of a solution, I spent a productive afternoon skeining almost 2 kilograms of yarn from cones. I’m ready to wash them now – all that I need is a suitable spell of weather. It may be  a long wait. The grey …

Work in Progress

I don’t know whether it is true for all knitters but in my experience, whenever I take a WiP photo of my knitting I spot a glaring error way back in my work that was never there before! This is my Windswept Shawl, at the end of Chart 6 and with a new lifeline in. …

Fleeting light

There’s a saying about the weather in Scotland – if you wait 20 minutes it will change. Well, the light is ever more fleeting and elusive. I let the dogs out after their breakfast and noticed how beautifully pearly the filtered light was over Elsness. A chance to grab that shot without burning out the …

Girls just wanna have fun

It’s a bit dreich for photo-taking but it’s lovely weather for pratting about with image editing software. Here’s a puddle and  a reflection, with added oil spill (just because I can). Apologies to purists everywhere –  but some days a girl needs a bit of fun in her life 😉

Undecided

The weather this morning was a little… undecided. I think that I might make this a series and photograph the bay every Monday morning when I go to put the rubbish out for collection. Maybe for a year, anyway.

First, catch your wee beastie

Looking forward to dinner! Address to a Haggis Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face,  Great chieftain o the puddin’-race! Aboon them a’ ye tak your place, Painch, tripe, or thairm: Weel are ye worthy o’ a grace As lang’s my arm. The groaning trencher there ye fill, Your hurdies like a distant hill, Your pin …

A good yarn

Yarny fibrous goodness in the mail today – not one but two packages. One contained some cheap Aran weight yarn – oiled pure wool at £2.99 a 100g ball from Texere in Bradford. It’s not what anyone could call lovely but I quite like the colour – a kind of mink shade of brown with …

Piggy wiggy

Today should have been a Fast day but Mr L asked for Pizza and “a pudding”. Who am I to deny him? We had a Goat’s Cheese and Chorizo pizza with a Chocolate Torte to follow. I’ll diet tomorrow. In my defence – we only had half an individual-size torte each.

Shadows and reflections

The sun has been out again. I spotted this lovely shadow from the wine glass on the kitchen worktop. Empty, alas. Not my fault. It was not I – wine is currently off the agenda for me.
