365:118 This is Flora’s Holiday

When I read that today was the first day of the Floralia I was whisked back in time to my days in the School choir, trilling Shadwell’s “Nymphs and Shepherds” to Purcell. Oh, happy days. I’ve made a bold attempt today but I can’t get those high notes any longer. [i]Nymphs and shepherds, come …

My bench has been stolen from me again and is full of Lego parts. Once more I am forced to join them rather than beat them. This day in 1791, was born Samuel — … .-. … . co-inventor of — … .-. … . -.-. … -.. . I’d rather have done Betty Boothroyd …

It would appear that any old original photograph will fit the theme today, it is World Intellectual Property Day My DH bought me flowers for no reason, other than Love, I guess. A little bit of Shakespeare seems appropriate today: Intellectual Property Rights bothered him not one whit, allegedly. SONNET 116 [i]Let me not to …

I have nothing today. Nothing. I have been to town and come home tired and weary. It is the anniversary today of the first airing of The Sky at Night (1957) and ideally I’d be out later on, attempting some star trail images. The haar has other ideas however and the stars will be shrouded …

I’ve been occupied

Yesterdays drifting patches of light haar were but a precursor to today’s real thing. It’s grey, damp and dark today. A day when typically I would set up a shot on my bench. However, my bench has been occcupied by the opposition forces – Mr L has populated my space with Lego. If you cannot …

365:113 For William and St George

I don’t like nationalistic sentiments nor do I believe in a god – and if I did, I doubt that any reasonable deity would be for one country more than any other; certainly not a deity that I would wish to subscribe to. I am however a bit partial to Shakespeare at times and frankly, …
