Free Stuff

It is Show and Tell time again. Always a challenge to me, this one – to find something of interest that is other than a WIP or an FO.

Today, I struck lucky.

A little while back I applied to the British Wool Marketing Board for one of their 100 free felting packs.  (Thanks to SpinningGill for the heads-up on that one!) With so few available, I had no thought of success. Well – look what arrived today!

Not in the least what I had expected the pack to be – it’s dyed roving. I had thought it would be a very small package of assorted natural colours – but here I am with a decent quantity of coloured stuff.

The colours leave a bit to be desired but, hey, it is free stuff after all.

The promotional pack included Love Wool stickers and a pen; a leaflet about the LovewoolUK event (September 5th – 11th); and a merchandise leaflet and order form – the felting packs are selling at £5 each (or £4.95 on line) and would make a really good stocking filler for a crafty-minded child (or adult!)

I have just checked the BWMB site and the free offer  page is still up. Can it be that they have not yet filled their quota of 100? If so, this must have been one of the best kept secrets ever!

That is a concern, isn’t it? Lovewool is happening in a few days and this is the first that I have heard of it. There is a Facebook page, with only 498 Likes so far – and just three posts on the whole of Ravelry!

What can we do?

Well, we can start a blog meme, if nothing else. Leave me to think about it for a few hours. Please leave any ideas that you have yourself in the comments and we’ll see if we can whip up some extra interest. I am not fully functioning yet, having woken with a migraine today, so I’m not full of my usual enthusiasm and ideas…

Sanday Spinners have an Open Studio on 3rd/4th September – perhaps we can use that to promote the event beginning on the Monday.

I shall speak with Gill and perhaps we can have a draw or something on the Sanday Spinners web site.

Maybe our Spinning Group can do something extra special on the Wednesday of that week. I wonder if we can take spinning out and about – maybe to the Heritage Centre or something…

Thinking caps on, ladies!

So – I found something to Show and Tell this week – you shall have to wait a little longer to learn more random bits about me. I do think we can add:

24 – I love a bargain!

The page is still there, but when you fill in your details it says’s they’ve now been claimed… oh well

Mine arrived this morning as well. I’ve not opened it yet. I wonder if they’re the same colours? 🙂

Please may I tell your readers about The Scot Flock’. It’s my tint contribution towards raising awareness of our local wool. Please feel free to knit the wee sheepies to join our flock. See ‘ScotFlock’ on Ravelry.

Ah, well – it didn’t seem credible there could be some left after so long
