I am rarely up in time for the early morning light at this time of year. Our van has good blackout blinds and the morning light does not wake me. In fact, for all of my life, I have not been a morning riser. I don’t wake up until 10 am, no matter how early I rise or how much coffee I drink. I am a zombie until 10:00. Back in the days when I was commuting 60 miles to work, I would have the alarm set for 05:40 and be on the road by 06:15. I would be in the office by 08:30, though totally unproductive until 10:00, when I would suddenly spring into life with a real ZING!

My body clock is definitely off. Left to my own devices I will sleep until 10:00, then wake up naturally. This is my preferred modus operandi and, being retired, I am now able to follow my inclinations. I sleep late.

However, this prompt had me determined to produce something from the am. By the time that we were up and breakfasted, and with our rucksack packed, it was going on for midday when we were ready to depart on our walk.

The header image was taken at 11:55 am. That’s still morning, right? So here is the morning light on the Vendéen Marais, La Route Du Sel, looking back towards Sallertaine as we set off on a circular walk.

Here is a gallery of shots from our walk.
