Purple may well be my favourite colour. Except, it isn’t a colour, is it? It’s a shade. Rather, it is many shades. “Purple” is a colour mixture of Red and Blue, IIRC.

Purple is perceptual, I believe. Purple morphs according to colour context. It is incredibly challenging to the camera lens, which does not see in the same way as the Human eye, nor does film or a digital sensor work as the Human brain does. This does not make the Human brain/eye combination necessarily superior because Purple often baffles the Human physiology.

Whatever, it certainly wasn’t difficult to find something purple to shoot today.

I checked today’s prompt over breakfast, as I usually try to do. I looked up from the prompt and there in front of me:

Purple Loosestrife (I think)

I just picked up the camera as I was snarfing my yoghurt and took a quick snap.

My day’s work done? Nope. I knew that there had to be more purple to snap, even just in the van.

My knitting bag

My Knitting bag sports several shades of purple and, if we looked inside we would certainly find some purple yarn. Even the cable on my circular needles is purple.

The other side of the knitting bag
Water bottle

My constant companion, my water bottle, it was automatic to reach for the purple version from the shop shelf.

Purple cushion

One of a pair of purple velvet cushions, a bit faded and washed out now. The camera hasn’t rendered the colour at all well and the images look more red than purple.

Purple velvet may be one of my most favourite things ever. I always hankered for a cloak in purple velvet…

This afternoon we took a stroll into the village to see what Rouans had to offer. It turned out that there wasn’t a lot – especially when all but one business are currently on their summer vacation. There was but one thing to do and that was to haunt the cemetery with my camera, looking for purples.

I found a good selection of purples, though the camera has turned many of them into pink.

If I had the time, I would return to the scene of the crime with a Grey Card and fully manual settings, but hey ho, not going to happen this time. Perhaps, dear reader, you might just squint a bit and bring a Human touch to the colour perception.
