Today is the day that we returned to Base Camp, after a very good two nights away in Corcoué sur Logne, in order to prepare for a long trip.

That makes today Shopping Day.

We stopped off at the SuperU in Legé, buying what we hope will be sufficient food to last us until we depart. It doesn’t look like a great deal, but we do have to empty the fridge and freezer before we go and will be making those interesting “using stuff up” meals.

Today is better weather – we saw the sun for the first time in a few days. Warm, pleasant, slightly cloudy, not too hot. I begin to have hope of encroaching autumn and comfort at last. Looking forward to starting our circular tour of France.

Today is Day 1 of “using stuff up” and our meal was a curried chicken mayonnaise salad. Yum.

For dessert, we polished off with some homemade Pistachio Ice Cream, of which I have a litre to dispose of before we can defrost the fridge. It’s hard work, but somebody has to do it.

Tomorrow we begin the monumental task of emptying, cleaning, and reorganising every drawer, cupboard, and locker in the van. I shall also be laundering the bedding and then re-making the bed in the van, so that we can take off whenever we feel like it…
