We don’t own or rent a house, but mostly live in this van:

We also have a static caravan. Its purpose is intended to be as a place to store a few things, and to come to roost in if life does not go to plan.

Whichever way that I look at it, this must make us what our US cousins term “Trailer Park Trash.”
We are very happy Trash. We love our roaming life, and all of its adventures.
We are currently at Base Camp, after spending over 600 days on the road. We don’t much care for it here, it’s mainly a convenience that requires little maintenance and carries few overheads. Sadly, it is a large and crowded site, and our pitch is close to the road outside. The noise from that, together with some neighbours who don’t care to observe the rules and hours of silence, makes being here somewhat stressful and rather tedious. All the same, we decided to spend our summer here and make some use of our investment.
One of the downsides to being here is… taking the rubbish (“trash”) out. In France, we must sort our waste. The communal refuse bins are 400 metres away, and we can put our sorted cans and plastics (yellow bags) and our residual waste there. Paper/card/Glass and miscellaneous household items, get walked a little further to go in recycling points and an enormous skip.

It’s hard work, walking all of our waste up there, when the air temperature is pushing 40ºC.

Noise having got the better of us, we are preparing to drive off in the van for a couple of night’s quiet sleep. The Trash has mostly been taken out in readiness but a few items remain – the big skip has been locked for the whole of this long weekend (Assumption) and will need walking up on Monday.
