A very simple prompt this time: Home

Home is much on my mind at the moment. I have been away from home since the 31st October. And yet… Home is where the Heart is.

My Heart is here, right beside me. Here in our little van, our Home on wheels. Home is in fact wherever we choose to go. Right now, Home is in the Alentejo in Portugal.

I have my Husband with me

My Heart goes everywhere with this man

I have my dog, our companion for the last 13 years

Nell, our constant companion

I have one cat remaining of the two that we set sail with last October

Home is where your Cat is?

It’s all here, right with me, every day and every last mile that we travel. Wherever I lay my hat…

That said and acknowledged, I cannot claim to be sad at the prospect of turning towards our stone and mortar home with a proper hearth (as opposed to heart) in France tomorrow. It will take us a few weeks to get there but each leg will take us closer and I am looking forward to being back in our little village and amongst friends once more. I anticipate with some joy the daily familiar dog walk. I long to see the spring flowers unfurling, the greening of the trees and the lambs in the fields.

I find that the one thing that I am most looking forward to is shopping at Grand Frais once more! I do miss French food 🙂
