The Great Vegetable Glut continues and last night I tackled a significant portion of the problem by making a quiche of broccoli and asparagus, served with a green salad  and a red cabbage slaw. A large pan of broccoli and cauliflower soup used up most of the brassicas. Today we are making a curry of aubergine, green beans and mushrooms – into which will go the more faded of the capsicums.

I believe that I am making headway.

Local shopping today yielded a bag of luxury bean mix that looks, well, good enough to eat. Very decorative!

I’m keeping the mixed beans in reserve for now but will make a mash of some cannelini on Monday for our Fast Day meal, which is going to be Pork Loin with Fennel and I am looking forward to it a great deal.

Mr L has  developed an exercise fetish and just can’t seem to keep off the treadmill. Last night he announced that he had burned 600 calories in two sessions yesterday. He’s on there again now – I don’t seem to be able to get near it. I may have to dig out our old exercise bike if I wish to get enough time in. Doing that would mean taking down the bar billiard table, though. Not a happy prospect –  bar billiards is more fun than  exercise.

I must crack on, I have so much to do yet and I badly want to fit in some spinning by the fireside tonight.
