KAL Shawl(s)

I’m going “Baa!” this Friday, as I signed up to join the UK-RAK Shawl KAL. My chosen pattern is an Evelyn Clark shawl, Icelandic Poppy, and I expect it to be a huge relief (indulgence) after so much garter stitch in recent weeks. I shall be making it in Kelpie, a cashmere laceweight yarn from Natalie at The Yarn Yard; in a red shade that she named Paprika.

Here’s the proof that I haven’t jumped the gun – photo taken today.

Ready to knit

I cannot begin to explain just how difficult it has been to restrain myself from casting on for this. It is going to be a total self-indulgence.

Ravelry Project here.

Icelandic Poppy is my principal KAL knit but I have a simpler design lined up to knit when my temper is frayed or the light is too poor, or there is too much going on around me to be knitting a chart requiring attention. The “A Handsome Triangle” from Victorian Lace Today is a fast and easy knit in Double Knitting. I’ve swatched for this one, in a lovely dark green Merino from Colourmart. This is to be a functional warmer for me, and I’ll snuggle up in it this winter when I want to read by the fire.

If the KAL is still running once these two are completed, I plan to pick up the Laminaria and complete it.
