Like a hole in the head

I think it’s an addiction, why else would I acquire more stash? I’m never going to knit my way though what I have already! And then there’s all those fleeces to spin…

Anyway, I fed my habit:

Kelpie, from The Yarn Yard. Laceweight cashmere. Colour: Paprika.

This is wound already and poised to make a shawl in September. The photo is a bit bright – think antique red velvet.

Also from Natalie, a skein of Gloaming:

Laceweight silk and merino. Earmarked for next year’s scarf entry to the Show, which I hope to have knitted before Christmas because…

… the long holiday knit is planned for this:

Plötulopi / Unspun Icelandic – 6 plates of. In Sea Green Heather. This is going to be a huge pi shawl blanket for my bed. Purchased from Iceland, with a 20% discount on 6 plates from Nordic Store a way better deal than Schoolhouse.  Priced in $ at 28.56  and taking the economy postage option, enough for a seven foot diameter blanket came to a total of $38.46 – that’s about £23 at present. Not a bad price for an heirloom ;-)  and certainly not a bad price for what may prove to be an entire winter’s entertainment.

For the interested: no import charges incurred.
