Warm Front, cold back

A warm front came over in the night and washed away most of what little snow had accumulated over the previous couple of days. Just as well. As I was preparing to go tot he Christmas Fair, I stood in a puddle. Not Griff’s fault this time but that of the central heating system. I had to leave Mr L in plumbing mode and go out on my own today. Secretly, I was relieved to be going out and not to have to weather t he storm of tension and Anglo Saxon that normally accompanies DIY in this household. Ribbing my hands in glee, I anticipated returning to a newly warm house and supper on the stove…

Not so!

I returned home after four or five hours, to find that the system was still draining…

It was almost done and Mr L assured me that the job that needed doing would be done in five minutes. “I’ve heard that tale before,” said I. Not so. I was informed. It really was just a five minute job.

Well, it’s 7:30 pm and the heating has just been turned on and we haven’t had our tea yet. All I can say is that it was prescience, surely, that catered at breakfast time with a full fry…

…and yes, there was a great deal of Anglo Saxon going on in the last three hours!

As for the Christmas Fair – I had healthy sales on knitting, Christmas Cards, and Lavender Bags. I made over fifty pounds, in fact. Trophies that I came home with were a clutch of paperbacks (including Round Ireland With  a Fridge), an egg “duck”, and some home made fudge for the resident plumber. Oh, and sock wool. Yes, I know… but it was very pretty sock wool indeed.
