The first few squares

Throughout these notes, yarns with BOLD identifiers are in sufficient quantity to share with other sock blanket makers. Please ask if you would like some.

A 1 – I think this was a yarn that I got in a sale pack from Astrid’s Dutch Obsessions. I made my first Magic Loop socks for Socktoberfest 2008 from this yarn and I love the socks to bits. Wonderful colours. Socktober Mountain Socks
Yarn: Schachenmayr nomotta Regia Color 4-ply /4-fädig
Colourway: Atlantis
Colour family: Green

A 2 – From the same sale pack – a cotton blend yarn. I used this as a contrast yarn for an Aestlight Shawl. SpinningGill had the shawl as a birthday present. A gorgeous yarn that I really would have enjoyed making socks from.
Yarn: Schachenmayr nomotta Regia Cotton Galaxy
Colourway: 4880
Colour family: Brown

A 3 – Caber from The Yarn Yard – a bamboo blend. I made a Gail shawl as one of my 10 Shawls in 2010 from this skein and had a tiny amount left over.
Colourway: 531, Olive
Colour family: Green

B 1 – Caber again, an earlier purchase that resulted in a Fountain hat. Green again – a shade named Juniper. I had about half a skein left – enough for many squares. Will swap/trade/share

B 2 – A merino sock yarn from Violet Green. Colour Arizona I made some plain socks from this yarn after frogging it out of a pair of Slippery Socks that didn’t work out (a shame, they looked great). Mixed browns and Turquoise, with a little green – this yarn adds some zing to the blanket but I only have a small amount.

C 2 (No C1 yet) – A Toddy skein from The Yarn Yard. I think this might have been a Solids Club yarn. I made a pair of Laeticia socks for Project Spectrum and then entered them into our 2009 Industrial Show. They got a blue ticket. Beautiful socks, fun to knit. I have oodles of this yarn, about half a skein
Colourway: 631,
Colour family: Blue-Green
