I have been noseying around, looking for a constructive way to spend some loot. I thought I’d look at some distance learning courses. Like this one. But oh, my, how can a girl bring herself to blow so much wad (£580) in one go?
The price of education appals me, it really does. Learning opportunities should be free for all who want them.
I don’t particularly want the credit points. I don’t want to make an income from my newly acquired learning. I just want to participate, to learn, and most of all – to stretch myself. It’s what I do. It’s what I love. It distresses me that it’s priced beyond my reach these days. How I long for the days when I could get a whole year of Open University education for just £2.00!

The course looks very good. Did you know that you can probably £200 off learning course through the ILA. Hope you don’t mind but I think I may look into it. We were on your gorgeous island at the weekend. We had a wonderful time.

The Scottish ILA scheme doesn’t appear to recognise the OCA – but my partner’s income would rule me out anyway. Don’t get me started on that one – another bone of contention. I firmly believe that married women should be assessed as individuals for benefits. It’s not lie we don’t pay enough taxes and stamps in our time…
I know. It’s absolutely ridiculous. I’m lucky, both myself and my partner earn peanuts! No we missed the craft fair, sadly, didn’t know it was on. We did visit the craft shop at Ayres Rock and Orkney Angoras though. And we hope to be back soon. I’m thinking about signing up for the spinning course.
