PS4 Stash Assessment

There is a cornucopia of riches awaiting my East efforts in my stash basket, given my focus on spice shades as well as Yellow. We have rovings to spin and yarns to knit, and some yarns that I have earmarked for weaving too.

There are four candidate rovings: two Merino pencil rovings from Natalie at The Yarn Yard, and two luxury rovings I had from an Etsy seller. I shall certainly spin the smaller of Natalie’s rovings for PS4 East (assuming I can get my North roving finished!) and I am trying to decide if I can in fact make one yarn from the two rovings… opinions?

Two plys of one, with third of the other?

What I really want to get on to my wheel are the two luxury rovings, but I do need to get my hand back in first.

I mean – who would want to spoil this?

On the yarn front, we have everything from a very greenish-yellow (or yellowish-green?) off-the-cone laceweight silk, through proper-yellow fingering weight (also silk), through beige and sandy shades and right on through peach to oranges and spicy browns and paprikas.

A peek at likely projects…

When the Competition Lazy Kate arrives, I hope to ply some of these very fine yarns together to make a heavier lace weight. I shall use it for the Red Emperor scarf project. I anticipate that the final object will be a wondrous thing indeed!

This peachy shade of bamboo blend Caber from The Yarn Yard is destined to make a pair of spring socks – something from Cookie A’s new book.

Finally, and not yet in the stash…

This Uruguayan laceweight Merino is on its way from Montevideo. It may be used for the Red Emperor if my plying plotting doesn’t work out. It is sold in 3 skein lots and I only want one, so two skeins will be available for sale or swap. Estimated delivery time? 30 days!

Of course, I could tackle a large shawl project with it… Maplewing, perhaps?

Overall? I think this is a magnificent stash for East, don’t you? I love the richness of it all.
