I am a little behind on this one, but delighted to have found one more inspirational push. The full prompt is here

Wabi-sabi is the beauty of the imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is the beauty of things unconventional and modest. It’s not just a style of art, it’s a world view.

  • Share a picture of something that represents a wabi-sabi style of beauty to you
  • List the 5 most beautifully imperfect people or things you can think of
  • Consider, develop, or discuss the role of perfection in beauty
  • Write a poem about the imperfect, impermanent, or incomplete
  • Share a story about something left uncompleted
  • … or make up your own prompt related to the theme!

Having a little trouble getting my head around this, so if I just place here some random stuff, maybe you can comment and tell me whether you agree on its wabi-sabi-ness?

I’m not sure – I liked the way that it looked like a flower but I am not convinced that it is Wabi-sabi

This one hits me where it hurts – that wee feather symbolises all that is fragile and transient and beautiful. I love this image.

Sand patterns

Transient by their very nature – different patterns revealed twice daily when the tide recedes. Must be Wabi-sabi?

Must be Wabi-sabi because I feel its pathos.

Is there anything more naturally beautiful than a moment of birth?

Shapes formed by the wind, never to be repeated.

Beautiful Decay – never to be the same again, changing daily as the metal returns to earth.

Speak to me, have I captured the concept, or do I misunderstand?
