Pitching in

tulipsfadedSubsequent to my previous post, I am trying out a theme named Pitch. There are some features of this theme that I like very much but it has a number of shortcomings. One thing that I find awkward is the lack of post-to-post navigation.

(UPDATE: Just for LizH – I added a plugin to add Navigation buttons – I may not keep it as there is no tasteful grey option, but we shall see how it goes)

Pitch allows Project types and this makes a lot of sense in the context of this blog. I should like to use Projects for, well… my projects. On the other hand, I dislike the Project page layout, which pushes text over to one side.

A major problem with Pitch is that it enforces slide shows even when I specify that I want one of those lovely tiled mosaic galleries. I also dislike that it allows Featured Images but does not display them in the post itself.

On the other hand, it does display images beautifully, which is after what I was seeking.

UPDATE: Another bad point however is that the theme overrides the Jetpack Threaded Comments setting. I could live without a threaded arrangement if only there was a Reply to Comment option instead of simple flat commenting. How does one hold a proper conversation without addressing the right reader?

I have spent many hours on this today but sense that Pitch and I are ultimately set to be parted. I am of the opinion that the one perfect WordPress theme does not actually exist.

I’ll leave things as they are for a few days and see if we can all settle in. I would like your feedback – tell me if you love it, loathe it, or could not care less.

You hit the nail on the head with your comment on lack of post to post navigation, as per my comment on the previous post that I can’t now figure out how to go back and read.
I’m just too linear for a digital age.
