Okay, Beth, wherever have you been?

My life doesn’t seem to yield up much time for blogging, or for many other Internet activities, these days. I honestly never thought that I would see the day! Wherever does the time go to.

I must admit it; we rise late. It is the privilege of the retired classes. Walking the dog takes priority thereafter and that takes a minimum of an hour each morning. Some days we will walk for two or three or even five hours. There is dinner to cook and if we go shopping there is a drive of thirty minutes or an hour and the same back again – shopping easily uses up half a day.

I do little housework – as we all know, I have never been able to see much point in it at the best of times and in the heat of the French summer… well, I’d rather be sat out under a sunshade with a cold drink in my hand.

There is no knitting being done, nor any spinning. My learning programmes go neglected and I am doing no creative writing. My cameras have been unattended also.

In short, I have no idea where my time is going! I think perhaps that time just dissipates – especially when we are abroad on four wheels (or two!)

Recently I have made a conscious effort to read more than of late. I have just completed Handywoman by the wonderful Kate Davies (I commend this to all readers – there is much in her story for everybody, not just for knitters). My current read is Mythos by Stephen Fry. I am very bad at updating Goodreads.

Very recently we have been binge-watching Mr Robot on Netflix. Having discovered that Series 4 is out, and realising that we had somehow missed Series 3, we elected to begin again and in recent days have worked through Series 1 and 2 and are beginning on 3. That is taking up much of our time but I cannot honestly say that much time in general has been spent in front of a screen.

If that sounds like I have been doing nothing at all then I must correct that impression. We have been to Italy, spending just over three weeks on our trip and returning via Switzerland and Germany. Shortly after returning home from that trip we took off for a few days on France’s largest island – the Île d’Oléron – a trip that took a week in all. That uses up a deal of my time but where the rest goes, aside from the interminable tasks of loading and unloading the van, I simply cannot fathom and I certainly have not yet found time in which to write up our travels at Two Snails. I really have to do that before we leg it to Spain.

It’s all go, really.
