More Catch-up

There has been little knitting, despite the vast quantity of occupation that I packed in order to keep me amused for the winter. I had a sock in progress; the heel having been closed, I began the gusset on the ferry from Sanday to Kirkwall. That gusset was completed somewhere after Abington on the M74 on Tuesday, and the foot section started. It has not yet approached the toe. What can I say? We seem to have been fully occupied! I mean, really occupied. There have been no DVD sessions during the trip down, though we did buy some DVDs from the Barnardo’s shop in Pitlochry (3 at 99p each) and the boxed set of Six Feet Under purchased before we left was waiting for us when we arrived here.

We are living in fact the life that we had imagined.

So far, so good. I am sure that there will be plenty of knitting and film-watching once the weather turns.

I am trying to get settled in today and arrange the van not for travelling but for living. Mr L is out with Nell, leaving me some space in which to tackle the reorganisation and the laundry. It is fish van day today so we will stroll down to Kippford later and see what is on offer, though may not buy as we plan to test the pub’s version of fish and chips later (naughty, so close to our supper at Anstruther but really essential research.)

It will be Nell’s first pub visit. We sat outside with her last time we were here, this time we plan to eat indoors. Nell is having quite a few “firsts” at the moment – she had her first bus ride at Anstruther (and quivered all the way) and yesterday she had her first tie-up outside a shop (and was remarkably good and patient about that.) She is fast becoming A Dog Of The World.

One drawback thus far – we are realising that the bus service here is… quirky and that trips to town are going to require military planning. We may look into Tesco deliveries later… it seems that Castle Douglas will be a rare treat of an outing. I have yet to work out if Glasgow for OU Day Schools is going to be at all feasible.
