Green of the Day 26 March 2009

Today’s green of the day arrived in this morning’s post -  and is this lovely hand-made book.

The book came from eBay and was described thus:

This is a beautiful journal/note book that is hand crafted from dried green leaves. The pages are made from bamboo paper and have a smooth finish on one side, textured on the other. The binding is made from banana tree bark and is decorated with either coconut or cinnamon sticks. It has approx 50 pages.

This is a guaranteed fair trade product made in villages 20km north of ubud in bali. The craftsmen work from home in small villages helping to maintain the use of traditional skills and sustain village life.

I am going to be quite sad to part with it, but it is for a RAK and not for myself. Should have bought two! There are more for sale, if you fancy one of your own. Beware – the cost is a very reasonable £2.99 but p&p is a whopping £2.00. Actual postage, wrapped in a little brown paper and tape, was 69p. I had expected a little protective bubble wrap or something for my £2…

      @Elly, Welcome to WOOL|gathered!

      Yes, isn’t it lovely. I can hardly bear to let it go! It’s a useful “journal” size, too.
