FO: Pink Swallowtail Shawl

Evelyn A Clark’s Swallowtail Shawl, from the Fall 2006 edition of Interweave Knits. Now available free, from Evelyn’s web site. Knitted in a heavyweight lace 100% cashmere yarn from Colourmart.

My second Swallowtail Shawl. The first was in a Shetland style fingering-weight yarn from Kauni. This heavyweight lace yarn is much finer, and made a consequently smaller shawl – more of a triangular scarf really.

It's a head scarf?
It's a head scarf?

A very pretty thing indeed. Plenty of yarn left to make another.

When I was knitting this shawl I found that the pattern does not actually call for p5togtbl for the nupps, just p5tog. That made for faster progress but I have to confess that I preferred the tighter nupps in version 1 of this shawl.

Nupps!
Nupps!

I love the raspberry pink of this yarn. It is very difficult to photograph but the photo at the top of the page captures it pretty much accurately, I think. It is definitely not a pinky-pink as in the nupps photo.

Now, who shall I give it to?

Your shawls are absolutely stunning! I’m just gonna have to woman up and make one….maybe……sigh….I’m too much of a wimp for lace but I do covet it!
