Rosemary Hill’s designs always attract me, especially when avidly viewing a fresh edition of Knitty. Muir stood out immediately, as did Waves of Grain and Bitterroot when I saw them. Bitterroot was the first Romi pattern that I actually managed to coax onto the needles, and it has been swiftly followed by Brandywine.
Brandywine is a special pattern – most of the sale price is donated to MSF.
Simply the most wearable of shawls; a garter stitch body is knitted from the point upwards, maximising use of yarn, with a stocking stitch lace border and point edging added as you go. It is reminiscent of Aestlight, but the construction is very different indeed.
The overall design is one of geometric simplicity. I can imagine this shawl being worn with just about anything.
All you need is one skein of sock yarn.
