Completely surprised this evening to find that I have completed my Laeticia socks. Yesterday I picked it up, with just an inch of cuff completed, and put it down again at bed time, with the heel turned. Never for a moment did I believe that I could complete the foot today, but I have! Not only that, but I am making fast inroads into Mr L’s boring socks and am about to fashion a heel flap for the second sock.
Other things have suffered, of course. 🙂
I have been checking out the post I made at the weekend, to see what to pick up next. As always, I find my views have changed in the interim! Oddly, I feel drawn to concentrate on the man socks. Not the wisest move, as they are my idiot knitting project, left lying around for those times when anything more difficult is just too taxing. If I completed them, I would just have to create a new stocking stitch project to take their place. There’s nothing spoiling and I don’t need to finish them – so why bother? I have no idea, perhaps it is just that blood lust for FO posting. Or maybe I need some idiot knitting after following a chart for two days. Who knows?
Certainly I do not feel impelled to pick up either the Echoes of Eden mitts or the Bayret hat. I actually feel more like digging out the Cascading Leaves Shawl. I may simply go with the flow and do just that, it has been a UFO for far too long…
As for the outline plan to start a Cookie sock… well, the book is delayed still, and likely to be so for at least two more weeks. But I do have my new copy of Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarn. I was reading it in bed last night and was not short of temptation. So I may just dash off a pair of Herringbone Rib Socks while I wait for Cookie’s book to arrive. It is a lunatic policy, because I could pick up and complete one of the two (or is it three?) Cookie socks that I have in suspended animation. My defence? They are not Green enough! I can always finish them off when we approach the West…
I won’t start the new socks tonight, I want to assess my yarns in daylight tomorrow and make a good choice. It’s too late and I am too tired to concentrate on lace charts, so I’ll get that heel flap done and then maybe retire the man sock again for a while.
I am simply in awe of how many projects you have at one time, and at how quickly you’re able to finish them. I think I’ll be lucky if I ever finish a pair of socks – or my sweater. Mitts, on the other hand – those I can do.
@beautyredefined, ROFL. I really can’t see my startitis as a strength 🙂 This house is littered with half-knitted items and it is taking a great strength of will to pick them off one-by-one.
As for speed – you should bear in mind that I don’t work for a living and I have zero interest in housekeeping. Add to that a lack of competing interests – no telly, no cinema to visit, no shops to wander… no nothing. I can happily knit all the day long, while the dust motes float about my ears! It’s just my way of passing the time.
