Camera in need of TLC

I have a much-loved and much-used Canon digital SLR camera – Rebel (300D, US model) in need of some attention, or it may be useful for spares. The card slot pins are damaged. We judged it uneconomical for repair and replaced it but if you know better, or can break it for useful spares, it is yours.

You pay postage, up front, by PayPal.

No returns. No refunds.

Kit lens included, unless you want to save postage.

Have original instructions book, neck strap, charger and 2 batteries. Could probably find original packing and various leads etc., if I set my mind to it.

I can’t quite bring myself to junk it and it’s collecting dust.

As far as we can tell, Canon UK will charge £70 before they even open the package to look at it.

Is it only the card slot that is damaged?
Only if you have no other takers, then I’d take it cos I like fixing stuff.

It’s yours, sweetie. With pleasure. I’ll even pay the postage, seeing as it’s you.

Yes, it is only the card slot. If you can get a replacement and fit it, all should be well. The sensor could do with a wash and brush up too. It’s had dust on it since the first week I had it – but Photoshop has served to deal with that for me, since I am a wuss about cleaning the sensor.

Shall I mail you the camera body only – and send you the rest if you are able to fix it?

In the hope that this will cause the postie to knock on my door five minutes after I press submit.
Please tell me you haven’t sent it yet, cos it’s not here.

Of course I haven’t sent it yet – what do you think I am… organised?

No, I need first to find all the bits and pack them and then find a round tuit to get me to the post office.

Sorry, Nevilley – other things have required my attention and I assumed that there would be no rush at your end
