Broken (not) feed

EDIT: Ignore all that follows, unless you have been affected in the last 24 hours and want to know why… Sod’s Law just came into effect and the feed has magically repaired itself overnight. Probably something to do with the database upgrade that last night’s WP update required of me.

Sigh

A few weeks ago the feed for this blog broke. No idea why it happened. It was working. Then it was not. I am trying to fix it, so please bear with me if the blog appears to be doing strange things. This includes any or all of changing themes, turning plugins on and off and on again, subtracting and replacing widgets… and altering URLs.

There is a simple fix – using the standard WordPress page references. But they are hideous things – and when I turned them on to fix the feed I found I was getting broken link reports from here there and everywhere, so I’d really like to keep my permalinks if I can (i.e. the URLs that you are used to.)

I am between a rock and a hard place at present but my IT consultant will give me some aid soon… everything points to the .htaccess files and its and rewrite rules. It is possible that an update at our host broke things at  this end. We shall investigate -  and one day normality will be restored.

In the meantime, I am going to try setting up Feedburner. That worked for the Sanday Spinners feed when I couldn’t get that one working.

My apologies for the interruption to normal service. What is normal service anyway? Do I have one/any?

I was thinking I’d not seen a post from you in a while. I completely rely on RSS feeds to keep up with my blogs so I really hope you manage to fix it.

      Hi, Katie. How’s Wales?

I’m sure it is fully fixed, all by itself – this does not help Gill, however, who changed her feed for the fix I did and then undid. She’ll catch up. Must remember to tell her 🙂
