AWOL

Yes, it has come around again – that time of the year when Mr L and I go super-gooey. August Bank Holiday weekend may not be a holiday up here but he  is on holiday on Monday and this is the anniversary that we tend to honour more than the formal ones. It is twelve years since he pounced. It is also… five (?) years since we moved here, all  but six years since we jogged up to Speyside, and eight years since we first abandoned Yorkshire for  the delights of a quiet life in Scotland. Why we always move home on August Bank Holiday or very close to it, I do not know!

So, we shall be away from the computers as much as possible this weekend and will be cooking delightful things ((Influenced Vegetable Stew and Chocolate Almond Ice cream with an apricot and brandy sauce)) (( I would like to link to that recipe – I won’t reproduce it because of copyright but it does exist “out there” – sadly, the page where I found it raised a security issue, so I am not going to link there either! Anyway, it is delicious – go buy the book)) and opening bottles of wine and so on instead.

Blogging will be a low priority for a few days.

Also on the agenda this weekend: battening down the hatches (we have Yellow Alerts and Yellow Warnings for some early damp and gusty weather) and Doctor Who (back after a mid-season break)! We shall be reminding ourselves tonight of where we left off and then watching the new one as soon as it makes it to the iPlayer tomorrow evening.

A weird way to be romantic, perhaps – but, well, that’s our life – and we like it.

See you Tuesday!

(I shall be busy next week – it’s Open Studio time again.)

Good lord!! 12 years since. I am happy to have witnessed it.
But good grief, don’t go look at your old house in Methley.

Nev, sweetie, you’ll have folks thinking you are some kind of pervy old bloke 🙂

We should be clear on the issue that you did not witness the actual pounce.

Why not? Has it sunk yet?
I know it got surrounded by new build. Glad I got out at the right time

    Laughs out Loud. Well no.

You know. I think you and Mr L are the only people that I actually envy.

I’m all for non-traditional romance. I’m not much of one for flowers or chocolates. In this household it’s all composing impromptu songs about pants or researching and reporting on new breakfast restaurants. I hope your weekend is full of the things that work best for you two!
