Sticking pins in it

The cashmere cowl is unpinned and looking and feeling good.

Maybe a little longer than I intended

I have always loved these two shades of this yarn and when put together they harmonise so well. The cashmere is wonderfully warm and so soft against the skin. I do not believe that I could ever have too many scarves made from this yarn.

Departing from The Plan, I now have the hooded scarf pinned out.

scarf (4 of 4)

It suddenly dawned on me that it made more sense to continue working on the worktop with long straight things, rather than move onto the kitchen table while so much dust and muck is being raised in the front porch.

A bit long?
A bit long?

And “long” is indeed the word! I have four mats on the go, only three of which are fully supported, the fourth is dangling over the washing machine. I was slightly aghast  until I remembered that the scarf bit will actually go up one side, over the top of the head and back down again – so is bound to look too long to be a simple scarf.

It took many pins

I used three boxes of t-pins, running wires through the front edge and along the leaf motifs to keep those aligned. I found the selvedge too difficult to thread with wires so just put in a lot of pins instead. I maintained 5 inches between the wires and the whole thing is pinned out to 6¾ inches wide. I could have used metric but I didn’t.  I’m old, leave me alone.

That selvedge is a bit wibbly but I am prepared to live with that. It will look better once the pins come out.

Knitted yesterday: Three Hexapuffs. It is not enough. I need to work faster.

I know that for weeks I have been promising some Knitting Content but I feel now as though I have been overdoing things in the past few days. I apologise if it is becoming boring around here. Obviously further Knitting Content is imminent but so is 30 Days Wild. Come Wednesday you may look forward to a spot of Nature, and Nell and I will be doing our best to be out and about. I still have no idea what we will be doing but we’ll try and keep up if we can. If we don’t, nobody dies.

Speaking of which, Mr L thought his last hour had come this morning when one side of his face swelled up enormously immediately after he ate breakfast. It is going down again now. The doctor was unconcerned as no fever or obvious infection is present. Personally I diagnose a blocked Parotid Gland. Mr L is about to chew on an Eccles Cake so we shall see what happens…
