FO: Moss on my Shoulders

Jul 9th, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: 5 FO Friday, Finished Objects, Shawl

Woolgatherers will know that I have been honoured to be selected by Rosematy (Romi) Hill as one of her test knitters. The Merope Shawl, recently completed, was my first test knit for Romi – this little sock weight shoulder shawl is my second. I made mine in Posh Yarn’s Elinor yarn and I added some size 6/0 beads from my bead stash.

Fo: June Shawl

Jul 9th, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: 5 FO Friday, Finished Objects, Knit

Remember my Winter Shawl, from the A Handsome Lace Triangle pattern in Victorian Lace Today and made in Colourmart’s Extra Fine Merino Double Knitting? Gorgeous yarn – and I had some left, plus a hankering to make Jared Flood’s Juneberry Triangle… and thus, the June Shawl was born.

At long last, the Ocean Drift roving is all spun up and skeined.

A pretty yarn, very silky and with much drape.

Project details and photographs.

Catching up

Apr 8th, 2009 | By wool gatherer | Category: Woolgathering

Spinning Spinning was Chez Woolgatherer today. We had the Moist Chocolate Cake and some (not)Mars Bar Crispies for the gluten-free choice. I managed to spin quite a decent amount of my roving before my hand cramped up, and I was pleased with that. There will be something to ply soon!  I also did a show [...]

PS4 North FO: Joy without Joy

Apr 7th, 2009 | By wool gatherer | Category: Finished Objects, Socks FO

These socks were a fun and speedy knit. Each sock took just two days to knit.

Laeticia – a sock pattern from the Twist Collective, by Stephanie van der Linden. I knitted these for myself from Toddy, my favourite sock yarn from The Yarn Yard.

A Project Spectrum project.

Endings and Beginnings

Apr 6th, 2009 | By wool gatherer | Category: Knit

Completely surprised this evening to find that I have completed my Laeticia socks. Yesterday I picked it up, with just an inch of cuff completed, and put it down again at bed time, with the heel turned. Never for a moment did I believe that I could complete the foot today, but I have! Not only that, but I am making fast inroads into Mr L’s boring socks and am about to fashion a heel flap for the second sock.

What to do…

Pondering a day with no demands. Knitty books, and foodie ideas… and a rather feeble Green of the Day.

Green of the Day 02 April 2009

Apr 2nd, 2009 | By wool gatherer | Category: ps4

I make no bones of the fact that I hate gettimg off my backside to go to town. I hate leaving my island. I’ll do anything to avoid the sheer hard slog of doing 8 weeks’ worth of shopping in one day. Happily, there is an up side to all that effort and disruption – [...]
