I need a good wipping

Mar 8th, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: Woolgathering

I had a look in Ravelry and I have…

4 live WIPs
17 hibernating WIPs of which at least 13 will come to fruition eventually
3 frogged projects that will certainly be restarted at some point

So that’s 20 official WIPs that require dealing with. There are other projects scattered around the house that haven’t been entered into Ravelry [...]

An assertive yarn

Mar 6th, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: Knit

Lst August I bought a skein of Gloaming from Natalie at The Yarn Yard. It’s a Merino/Silk blend offering 800m to a 100g skein.

The yarn has languished for a while.

Cue the Echo Flower Shawl.

Oh, oh, Kermit’s back

Mar 5th, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: Knit

The Skew sock was completed last night and I tried it on. This thing is just not going to work, so it is off to the frog pond for it.
I had a lot of fun, the whole knitting thing was a real magical mystery tour. I’m glad I made it, but I am never going [...]

Stranger than fiction

Mar 4th, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: Knit

The Sock and I decided that life is too short to spend hours confined on a ferry and in killing time kicking heels around in town. We stayed home and did a little mutual growth exercise instead…

The end of a beautiful day

The island looks gorgeous today. The sun is shining, the snow is all but disappeared, and the Oyster Catchers have returned to add a little fun and colour to the landscape. I saw my first lambs of the year too – when not dazzled by the sun on the sea.
Speaking of colour – I went [...]

Gratuitous Cat Post

Mar 3rd, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: Cats, Woolgathering

We lost the cats last night – they were missing when it came time for us to put them to bed. I found them on the chair in my workroom, looking very cute curled up there together. I grabbed the camera but Treacle left the scene of the crime before I could focus. Teddy, always [...]

Madness

Mar 2nd, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: Woolgathering

Perhaps it is the distant scent of Spring in the air bringing on a light fever, but I do seem to be losing my marbles. I’ve got the first of a pair of Skew on my needles now. Will this be the first toe-up sock to fit me? We shall see, but I do love [...]

A Thank You, revisited

Mar 2nd, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: Woolgathering

Remember my invitation to tell me about your donations to MSF?
The draw has been held and was properly conducted.
The first name out was that of pixeldiva, who has 7 days in which to contact me to confirm with her mail address. I am sure that I shall be hearing from her very soon but [...]

White and Strange – part 2

Mar 1st, 2010 | By wool gatherer | Category: Knit, Woolgathering

A short examination of one form of shawl construction… which may exhibit very little clarity butmakes just a little sense to myself.
