Socktoberfest

2885727382_8dd51ee082 This is really by way of a Note To Self post - just thinking that Socktoberfest could perhaps provide the impetus to try making a pair of socks using the Magic Loop method.

No promises. Just a maybe.

I really must go stash diving tomorrow and draw up a plan.

Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend

If I could only knit with one yarn for the rest of my life, this Silk Blend from Manos del Uruguay would be it. It’s wonderful. It feels great, it knits up with great good humour, and the colours are to die for. They just glow.

What is more, knitting with the one yarn for the rest of my days would be no penance, but a goal. Sadly, I shall never be rich enough.

Dear Santa: I know that I don’t do Christmas but if you happen to be passing by the Windswept Acre and have a few balls of Silk Blend lying around in your sleigh… could you kind of just nudge them over the edge so that they fall down my chimney? Please?

It’s all gone horribly wrong

Just about everything that could go wrong today did so, and now I feel completely frazzled.

The gingerbread was good. The coconut macaroons were quite nice. The èclairs were an unmitigated disaster from start to finish. The bread was terrible too. Nell ran off and was found chasing a car down the road. Thankfully the occupants were pleasant about it. In fact, they stopped to chat and remind me that they have Nell’s brother at their house… Unfortunately we can only assume that she had chased another car in the opposite direction first - the occupants of that one may be less happy about having a demented pup on the road.

Pluses today include the gaining of another hosting customer - and this one is paying! And I picked up the stitches for my slipper and ended up with the right number. AND I completed one bobbin and filled another this morning.

I am planning a quiet afternoon. Tomorrow will be busy again.

Many thanks to Gill for providing milk for spinning coffees.

One of those days

Up and at ‘em this morning and I had the bread rising by 7:30am. I am now showered and ready to begin my other baking. I have discovered that I have no milk for the spinning ladies’ tea/coffee and no time to go seek some.

*sigh*

I got up to find that the cats had discovered by Blink; carefully washed, blocked, folded, and laid on a table by me - now in a crumpled tangled heap on the floor.

*double sigh*

Last night I began my slippers. This Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend is fabulous stuff. I knitted my first sole in bed and hope to make progress today. No chance of pictures today, light levels are v low.

And now I am off to make eclairs…

…but have no milk for my crème patisserie!
