I’m up… and doing
I’m up. Believe me, I am up, though I really do not want to be *. My body, my head, and especially my eyes, appear not to be functioning - despite the pre-shower struggle down the drive with the bin bags this morning.
It is a beautiful day. I stopped after dropping the rubbish off, and crossed the road just to take in the sea and the sky and the peace of it all, before coming back to get up properly and put the sheets in the washer.
I think today is the day that I am supposed to be weeding up at the school. It’s a wonderful day for it and theoretically I cannot think of anything better on a day like this than working in the fresh air, up a hill, with a view of the sea and the islands beyond (can you tell I am not up for it?). BUT my back is aching. And it’s doing that fluttery thing it does before it goes PING! at the slightest excuse.
More importantly (more honestly?), my mind and my fingers are aching to create something. And it’s GREAT LIGHT today. So, you know where I am going? Not up to the plantation to weed. I’m going in the workroom and I am going to tackle that damn collage that should have been done ages ago. It scares the living daylights out of me but today I am ready to try it.
It’s no contest really. I’d like to feel guilty. Maybe I do. But.. you know.. The Muse has arrived. I have no idea how long she will stay, being a Fickle Muse, but I have to take advantage of her when she is here, she does not visit often.
All I have to do now is force the bleariness out of my eyes. How? I’ve been up and out in the air, I’ve had my shower, but I still see the world through distortion goggles this morning.
* I blame Suzie, mostly. For it was she who stole the leftover SpƤtzles and Cheese (with bacon and fried onions) from the dining table last night. Hence, it was she who was barking at unearthly o’clock because she had tummy ache and needed to go out. Repeatedly. Of course the cats thought it was get up time and loudly demanded their breakfast - of course they did. Bless ‘em. Grrrr!
