It’s typical, is it not, that having made a commitment to grappling with my wheel, I should be stumped just as I get into the swing of it?
I have almost a full bobbin of the three-way cross fleece. It’s odd-looking stuff but showing slow improvement, I hope. When the drive band began to fray, I trimmed it and added a little superglue. It got me through most of the second half of the bobbin but finally gave out completely last night. This probably explains my total inability to get the tension right - most of last night’s stuff is way overspun. I thought it was me, being useless - but I think I just couldn’t tighten the tension, with the ever-increasing fray it just kept slackening off.
Thankfully, I have two new drive bands on order, and they should be with me soon. In the meantime, I shall have to bite on the frustration.
I went to bed with my sock last night and am about halfway down the foot now. Maybe I’ll get it finished before the drive bands come.
Yesterday I got those decorated envelopes off my back and I am about to pedal to the post office with them. Then I’ll pedal around with my minutes for noticeboards (very late, shhhh!) and I hope to get up to watch some sheep shearing being done the old-fashioned way - we plan some photographs if the sun comes out. It’s misty, but warm and still, so it should be a good bike ride.
